Domaine Belargus: Anjou Chenin in Toulouse

Belargus lets you explore several expressions of Chenin within one estate. Our selection includes Anjou, Savennières and a sweet white: the appellation and wine style are useful starting points when choosing a bottle.

One grape, several terroirs

The estate's vines lie around Savennières, Chaume and the Layon. Its cuvées reflect this range of soils and exposures. In Savennières, Gaudrets comes from plots on sandy soils above black schist; the producer publishes a detailed account of this wine.

Our connection with Belargus

On the Loire trip described in our May 2026 Gazette, Ivan Massonnat joined us for a winemakers' lunch at Aurélia and Étienne Moly's estate. That conversation is part of our travel journal, alongside the visits and discoveries from the trip.

Gaudrets and Ronceray have different appellations: compare their origins before their prices. For Rouère, also check the sweet-wine designation and bottle size. Some references come in magnum; the list keeps formats and vintages separate so you can compare equivalent bottles.
